Republican, Democrat, or Independent?

Just curious… Do most people vote for the party, the issues, or do they vote based on personal opinions and gossip?  I don’t want to feel that just because I’m a Christian and would never personally choose abortion for myself that I HAVE to be a Republican because they are pro-life.  There are things that I’m for and against on both sides.  This is why I consider myself an Independent and will always base my vote on whom I think will do the best job on the hottest issues we are facing in our country.

We are a country full of greedy, selfish, impatient, and self-righteous people.  I just hope there are enough people voting who do take the time to fully educate themselves on exactly who and WHAT they are voting for that they might cancel out those who are voting with hatred in their hearts or who are misinformed and not taking the time to learn about all sides.

Palin Calls War “A Task from God”

[As seen on video clip sent in comment on preceeding post.]

If you have read the entire Bible, as I have, you will see that whenever God hands down this task, it is to defend Him and those who believed in Him.  Christians were sent out to battle those who worshipped “false” gods.  Could you imagine the bloodshed right here in the U.S.A. if Christians were to carry out that task today?

What Does the Bible Say About War?

Is the Bible Contradictory About War?

What Did the Vietnam War Accomplish? (Actually, it did accomplish something – as did our involvement in the Korean War.)

I’m torn!  I believe there is a need for war, but I also believe it should be well planned.  Here are some interesting comments to a blogger’s question, “Why are we fighting the Iraq war?

Sarah Palin Winning Women Voters Why?

So this “pit bull with lipstick” is rallying the women of America, which makes me wonder.  Are they hot for Palin simply because she is a woman?  Did they even do any research before jumping on this band wagon?  I don’t get it!  Oh … McCain picked a woman as his running mate … what a radical move.  Let’s vote for them!  I’m sure the rifle slinger must have swayed some men as well, appealing to their testosterone.  What man wouldn’t be curious about a woman all for the NRA?  I’ll try to refrain from airing more opinions until the debates begin. In the meantime, become informed!  Start here:

No Child Left Behind Act a Complete Mess!

I came across this article and totally agree. There’s no hope for my boys to see any change at this point with just one more year of high school left, and I doubt Ali will see many changes as she enters high school next year. Miranda might see some improvement in the education system if we get a democrat in the house to try and fix what has been falling apart for the last 7.5 years. The republican candidates have no plans on doing away with the No Child Left Behind Act.

They say the kids of today are the leaders of the future. With the level of education they are receiving today, that’s a little scary! All these programs that are supposedly for “advanced” kids are really what should be the norm. Many of those kids aren’t really advanced but rather right where they should be. I think it’s more accurate to say there are many kids who are performing below grade level, and they’ve become the new norm. I’m not saying this as a jealous mom. I have two who are “labeled” as advanced myself! I agree they are very bright, but I wouldn’t call them geniuses or abnormally gifted & talented. Of course I’m proud of them, but I’m also a realist.
